The chapter had collected books about environmental consciousness for the children. These were to be handed out to each child to take home along with a couple of coloring sheets about recycling..
On the way up to the center, each group rode in a separate car. We each came up with separate impromptu skits to put on for the different classes. Group A went to two classes and Group B went to three classes. We put on a skit for each class, expanding the skit as we went and loving it when the children would squeal with enjoyment. Then we would have a short question and answer period, telling them about the environment and why we should take care of it. We finished off with passing a book out each. The children loved it. We left extra books with the center for those who were absent and newcomers.
Afterwards, we joined in the break room for a cup of coffee and a chance to discuss how much we enjoyed what we were doing. In fact, Group A was talking about how nice it would be to go to head start centers closer in the vicinity to Kingwood College on a more regular basis. We all had a great time. This was a very interactive time with preschoolers that we enjoyed as much as they did.
