Agenda Items | Person Responsible | Discussion Notes: | Action
SBEC Board meeting | D. Smith | Meeting results: ETS is increasing the price for taking certification exams to $ 120 flat fee. The fee will now be the same for PBT and CAT versions of the test. Regarding proposed program changes, no changes were finalized at this meeting. EC-6 guidelines not finalized at the time of the meeting. The next Board meeting has been changed to May 9 instead of May 2. | Program managers should email concerns regarding program rule changes to Karen Loonam. Note; The annual program directors meeting date changed to June 10, 2008. |
Audit Outcomes and TRS | S. Bedwell | Susan reported on the TEA/SBEC audit from the State Auditor's Office. This was a compliance audit, in which the program was asked for 40 candidate files from 06-07, roll sheets, archived web courses, sign-in signature sheets for seminars, evidence of participation in new teacher seminar in each candidate's folder, agenda, handouts, sign-in sheets, mentor logs, PPR rolls, etc. | LSC ACP programs will document extensively based on this feedback. The State Auditor's Office noted significant improvement in documentation for the 2007-08 year. LSC-Kingwood passed the compliance audit for the 2006-07 year. |
SBEC site visit | S Bedwell | All LSC Program Managers are invited for the opening session of Kingwood's SBEC site visit April 15, 8:30, Fine Arts 125 | Program Managers will attend as their schedules permit. |
Mentor Fees | M. Costanza | Discussion of handling of mentor fees by ACP programs: All mentor fees are handled by school district and intern - no ACP program handles mentor fees $ 500 for all except $ 800 for HISD
Candidate Folder Organization | D. Burditt | Dell asked for direction in organizing folders for SBEC site visit. Susan and David shared folder organization and Advisory Council review of folders procedures. | Dell will improve folder organization for LSC-CyFair. |
Tracking part time work schedules | M. Costanza | There is concern about TRS retirees reported by the system to TRS as working more than ½ time. The district limit of 19.5 hours per week for part-time employees needs to be communicated to employees and monitored as much as possible by managers. TRS retirees may teach only two courses per semester. | Inform part time employees of system limits on work hours and courses. Although the TRS employee is ultimately responsible to TRS, we need to monitor as much as possible. |
