CINEMA WOW! At the Library
CINEMA WOW! At the Library is a film appreciation series. Due to copyright restrictions on showing films to the public and the high cost of licensing individual films, CINEMA WOW! has joined forces with the Harris County Public Library/LSC-CyFair to present CINEMA WOW! At the Library. We are truly excited about this partnership. Each film will be shown in LRNC 131. Films will be hosted by a professor or staff member of LSC-CyFair who will facilitate a discussion either before or after the film. The series will highlight annual celebrations as well as presenter preferences.
International Education Events
International Education Week aims to promote international understanding and build support for international educational exchange by encouraging the development of activities that prepare Americans to live and work in a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States. The events will highlight the different international activities promoted by the college such as Study Abroad, Faculty International Exploration, International Student Organizations such as the X-Presate Hispanic Organization and the International Heritage Society as well as the Community College for International Development exchange students, international students, and ESOL students.
Readers Theater
Lone Star College-CyFair Readers Theatre puts on four staged readings a year casting faculty and staff in plays on themes that relate to any number of broader humanities topics. By using staged readings instead of memorized lines, faculty and staff are able to participate within their busy schedules. Participants can focus on creating characters through tone and pace, rather than action. The audience is able to appreciate the language of drama and engage with the words beyond the page. Over the past 5 years, Readers Theatre has covered a vast array of classical and contemporary plays, ranging from the comical to the dramatic. Our goal is to continue the tradition and expand the event to include staged readings of other literature, such as short stories and radio dramas.
Women’s Conference
During the month of March, Lone Star College-CyFair and Windows on the World celebrates women with a series of events including speakers, presentations, readings and films.
Art Speak Series
Art Speak offers students and the CyFair community the opportunity to participate in discussions guided by experts to evaluate what makes art meaningful to them. Each Art Speak session takes a special focus. Examples include art and censorship, art and spirituality, art and social movements, art and environmentalism, and art and commemorating the past. Art Speak holds four events each year.
