Second Summer Session to Begin for Lone Star College System

Classes for the second summer session at Lone Star College will begin July 10, but already an increase in enrollment is being reported. According to reports compiled by the LSCS office of institutional research and effectiveness, the number of students served for summer 2008 compared to summer 2007 show a 6.9 percent increase.      

As future and current students seek affordable, accessible, quality, education, Lone Star College System continues to meet that need for the greater Houston area. 

Since a large percentage of current LSCS students work part-time or full-time, the system offers classes during the day, evening, weekends and online. Five comprehensive colleges and six satellite learning centers shorten the distance from home or work to college—and lessen the gas required for traveling.

Courses in computers, health care careers, criminal justice and business remain popular. Many courses, such as teacher certification are offered at each Lone Star College.

LSCS will kick-off the fall 2008 semester on Aug. 25.  Enrollment and registration are currently available through the website and at any Lone Star College or satellite centers.

Lone Star College System consists of five colleges, including LSC-CyFair, LSC-Kingwood, LSC-Montgomery, LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball, six centers and LSC-University Center. With 49,250 students, it is the largest institution of higher education in the Houston area, and third largest community college district in Texas.
