SPRING 2012
Faculty Exhibit TBA January
Jeff Forster(Sculpture) 2/13-3/2
"New Archeology"
Art Reception 2/13 at 2:00
Jeff Forster's inspiration is greatly derived from household objects and common forms. The innate relation to these commonplace items is integral to his work. His ceramic pieces strike a contrast between the mass produced consumer items, and the more personal objects that traditional art entails. His 'postmodern relics' create a reflection of society, and its various functions.
Kira Kolandy (Ceramics) 3/5-3/30
"Fusion"
Art Reception 3/30 at 2:00
While ceramics, such as pots and bowls have historically been used to store food and grains, Kira Kolandy creates a bold new perspective to view such pieces. Her ceramic creations center around the idea of fertility, both feminine and masculine. By transforming what is traditionally a functional and pragmatic vessel into a new symbol, she instills her work with new meanings. Her art creates an awareness of the essential nature of ceramics in human history, and the relevance of such works today.
Michelle O’Michael (Sculpture) 4/9-4/17
"Spiral Evolution"
Art Reception 4/9 at 2:00
NEW TIME
Michelle O'Michael's "Spiral Evolution" exhibit balances content, technical expertise and beauty. She explores the interaction of mass, structure, space, surface shadow and volume through quality of line in 360 degrees. Her expression is through the interaction of planes, with content stated in material and form.
Steffani Frideres (Encaustic) 6/11-7/6
"Waxing and Waning"
Art Reception 6/11 at 2:00
Steffani Frideres' art is a fantastic hybrid of photography and encaustic painting. Encaustic painting is an incredibly involved process that requires patience and precision. The contrast between the photography and encaustic designs creates a sublime experience.
