Patrick Palmer's, "Head Count"

Patrick Palmer deals with the human head in inventive ways with his artwork in "Head Count", the visiting artist exhibition on display October 9 through November 11 at the Lone Star College-CyFair Bosque Gallery.

Excited and intrigued about drawing, painting and creating unique images of the human form, especially the human head, Palmer utilizes abstraction, mixed media, text and more in his art. "If the arts are indeed about story-telling, I need to relate the story in first person. I want to interpret people, not things. Simply put, I love to paint, especially the human head," said Palmer who teaches painting, drawing with a focus on realism and a popular class on the human head at the University of St. Thomas. "When a head is depicted in one of my portraits, there are endless interpretations possible due to its conceptual nature."

Palmer's works can be found in public collections, such as the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, in corporate collections across the United States and in many private collections, including his own studios in Houston's Museum District or Winter Street Studios.
