December 6 Proclaimed LSC-University Park Day by Mayor Parker!

On Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, over 300 guests and dignitaries including State Representative Patricia Harless joined President Shah Ardalan and Lone Star College System Chancellor Dr. Richard Carpenter in officially dedicating the LSC-University Park campus.

The dedication ceremony marked a milestone for LSC-University Park according to Ardalan. “The college continues to fulfill its promise made to the community five years ago to become a leading model of the “innovative college” for the 21st century,” he said. Dr. Daria Willis, faculty senate president and Haley Barnett, SGA president, gave heartfelt remarks on the impact of LSC-University Park, both personally and professionally. Representative Harless read a state proclamation on behalf of Governor Rick Perry and Houston Mayor Pro Tem Ed Gonzalez presented a proclamation on behalf of the Mayor Annise Parker of the City of Houston, designating Dec. 6 as LSC-University Park Day!

LSC-University Park is the sixth Lone Star College System college and includes one of the two LSC university centers. The campus is located at the corner of State Highway 249 and Louetta Road across from Vintage Park. Since opening in 2010, LSC-University Park not only has received national recognition for its innovative programs, but has continued to attract, retain and inspire students from all over the world.
