The Federal TRiO programs (TRiO) are Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services to individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRiO originally began as 3 programs (thus the term TRiO was coined), but today includes eight programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to postbaccalaureate programs.

THE 8 TRiO PROGRAMS ARE:

* Educational Opportunity Centers
* Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement
* Student Support Services
* Talent Search
* Training Program for Federal TRiO Programs Staff
* Upward Bound
* Upward Bound Math-Science
* Veterans Upward Bound

The mission of Educational Talent Search is to prepare academically qualified, limited income, and first generation* Harris County youth to complete secondary school and enroll in and complete a postsecondary education of their choice. Educational Talent Search will provide academic advising, career advising, college acceptance and application process advising, financial literacy and financial aid information.
