What is Internal Auditing?
Internal audit provides independent, objective assurances and consulting services designed to add value and improve the District's operations. It helps the District accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, operational and governance processes.
The Internal Auditors perform their work in accordance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
The purpose, authority, and responsibility of the internal audit function is formally defined in the Internal Audit Charter, consistent with the Standards and approved by the Board.
Periodic internal and external quality assessments and ongoing internal monitoring are part of the quality assurance and improvement program, designed to help the internal auditing activity add value and improve the District’s operations.
