E-mail Address FAQs

What is my E-mail Username? 
Your E-mail Username is identical to those used when logging into Webmail, VPN, or a campus PC.

Where can I find my Employee ID? 

Your Employee ID can be found on your Pay Advice.  Your employee ID can be found in MyRecords as well.

1. Log into MyRecords
2. Select Employee menu.
3. Select Change Preferred E-mail Address link
4. Employee ID follows your full name.
    

Why is my password not being accepted?

1. Your password does not meet the requirements for a valid password.

Password Requirements:
• Minimum of 7 characters
• Must contain letters and numbers at a minimum
• Can contain special characters like punctuation marks
• Can not be a single word
• Must be changed every 120 days
2. The new password matches the last 4 previously used passwords.

NHMCCD is now Lone Star College System. What does this mean to me?
Effective 06/02/2008, all e-mail you send will reflect your e-mail address of firstname.initial.lastname@lonestar.edu.  Your old primary address of mailto:firstname.initial.lastname@lonestar.edu will not exist and any e-mail sent from someone to your old address will not be delivered to your mailbox.

I have another nhmccd.edu e-mail address of firstname@nhmccd.edu.  What happens to my alternate or alias address? 
Many people have secondary addresses, also referred to as aliases. All of your previous secondary addresses now have @lonestar.edu equivalents.  Again, any e-mail sent to these secondary addresses of @nhmccd.edu will not be delivered.

What happens to my old e-mail?
Your old e-mail will not be affected.

What happens to my old e-mail addresses?
Your old e-mail address will be unuseable.  Please be aware that we are removing @nhmccd.edu addresses June 2.  We must stop using those addresses to remain in compliance with EDUCAUSE and the U.S. Department of Commerce, regarding name changes (like nhmccd.edu to lonestar.edu).

What happens to my contacts?
Your contacts will still work, whether they reflect someone with a nhmccd.edu address or a lonestar.edu address

Will OWA still work the same?
OWA will still work the same.  However, if you happen to have a bookmark or link set to https://owa.nhmccd.edu/, you will need to change this to reflect https://owa.lonestar.edu/.  If you don't update the bookmark, you will be prompted about the security certificate.

What else should I do?
You will need to update membership directories, professional organization lists, list serve membership information, and other places where you have given your @nhmccd.edu e-mail.

Will e-mail addresses for public folders change as well?
Yes, all e-mail addresses will reflect the new @lonestar.edu.  Any e-mail directed to the old @nhmccd.edu address for this public folder will not be delivered.

What about my distribution lists?
The members of a personally created distribution list will also need to be updated to reflect the new @lonestar.edu address. This can be done by following the steps below:

1. Open Outlook
2. Open contacts
3. Double-click the specific list you desire to update.
4. Click the 'Update Now' icon from the ribbon.
    

What if my name is identical to another employee within the College System?
If you and another employee have identical names, then the display in the Global Address List (GAL) is unchanged. For instance, Jim Smith (System Office) and Jim Smith (MC) will continue to display as they have in the past.
