My unique art repertoire evolved from the roots of my artistic Brazilian family and early memories of my native land. At the age of ten, I was adopted and brought to Houston. Having been plucked from a lush, tropical jungle setting filled with color, teeming with plants and singing birds, and the music of my native people, I adjusted to this new, unfamiliar, austere life in the United States. Re-rooting in this strange land was not an easy task for me until I rediscovered my art, always my friend, which has become a means of personal expression, communication, and healing.
My art expresses two perspectives. First, I accentuate the fluidity of the paint, the beauty of humankind, and the majesty of nature in my art making. The second perspective, equally important, is the spiritual and psychological, in which childhood images demand to be painted, acknowledged, and processed by incorporating collage, texture, found objects, and material collected from nature.
My works are shown in various Houston Galleries and are in several private collections.
