Please consult with a physician prior to exercise to obtain medical clearance. According to the American Council on Exercise, group exercise is ideally suited for "healthy persons who have no apparent health/physical limitations or special medical needs." Most fitness classes are approximately 1-hour sessions. Class times, formats and schedule is subject to change.
Fitness Class Guidelines
Shoes: Please wear proper athletic shoes designed for specific mode of activity. This is highly recommended for safety.
Dress Code: Please wear athletic attire appropriate for class format.
Food/Drinks: No food is permitted in the Wellness Center, water bottle containers are recommended.
Age: No one under the age of 18 can use the facility or attend fitness classes unless they are enrolled in a class.
Childcare: LSC-Montgomery Wellness Center does not offer childcare. Children may not accompany you in the Wellness Center.
Personal Items: The LSC-Montgomery staff is not responsible for lost or stolen items. All personal items can be put in a locker or kept in group fitness class along the back wall. We advise you not to leave valuable items unattended. Locker room facilities are provided.
Fitness Class Descriptions
Yoga: This hatha yoga class includes poses that strengthen the body, improve flexibility and increase balance. The yoga poses include lunging, squatting, twisting, bending, and reaching. A portion of the class is focused on relaxation and breathing practice.
Yoga Fusion: A class that includes various added emphasis on specific body parts or topics such as core body strengthening and joint health. Exercise equipment such as elastic bands and stability balls may be used in addition to yoga mats, blocks & straps.
Yoga/Meditation: A Body and Mind Experience. Appropriate for all levels – flowing yoga that helps tone muscles, increase flexibility, strength, & endurance combined with deep relaxing breathing and meditation to help you leave feeling refreshed and calmer.
Team Dance: High Energy Class- Learn a variety of dance moves & have the opportunity to perform- Join in the Fun!
Toning, Balance & Stretch: This class incorporates exercises that build strength in the core body as well as improving stability, balance, and flexibility.
Circuit Training: Designed to target muscle groups this class focuses on a resistance and strength training workout. Exercises may incorporate resistance and weight training machines as well as some cardiovascular exercises.
Zumba®: Aerobic dance moves including rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats.
Body Sculpt: Using equipment such as weights, exercise balls, tubing, and bands, this class is designed to tone, strengthen, and sculpt the body.
Cardio Dance: Aerobic dance moves with influences from jazz, Latin/rhythm, disco, ballet, belly dance and Broadway.
Cardio Mix: This class consists of a variety of cardiovascular exercises and may include step, hi/lo impact or exercise drills i.e., jumping jacks, jump rope, squats and lunges, also, segments for muscular strength and endurance are included in this format.
Barre–n-Tone: This workout provides exercises that help tone with the use of both the ballet bar and floor work utilizing light weights, bands and tubing.
