Registered Student Organizations (RSOs)

Requirements for RSO's to receive Student Life funds 2014-2015

RSO's can earn up to $600 in Student Life funds each fall and spring semester by completing the requirements below. Funds are transferred from Student Life into club accounts each semester. Club accounts carry over from year to year, and are not zeroed out at the end of each fiscal year.

All of the requirements below are required for RSO's at LSC-North Harris:

  • Complete RSO Registration Form. This form is typically done toward the beginning of fall semester, or when an organization resumes or commences activities. Recommend completing form by the end of September. Form must be updated whenever any information changes.
  • President (or equivalent) and Advisor must complete the RSO Advisor & President Agreement Form.
  • Complete state-mandated Risk Management Training. There is a mandatory RSO Workshop Friday, October 3 from 10am-2pm in Student Center 200, where this training is covered. Two officers, 1 being President/Vice President or equivalent, are required to attend. Advisors are provided with training during Fall Advisor Meetings.Risk management training PowerPointmust be shared with membership at meeting.   • Participate in both days of Involvement Fair. Clubs must submit theInvolvement Fair Registration Form, at least two business days before the event. Fall Involvement Fair is September 8 & 9 and Spring Involvement Fair is January 21 & 22.
  • Attend SGA Meetings. There are 4 meetings in fall semester and 4 in spring. All meeting dates can be found on the SGA Web Page. Must attend all 4 in the semester to earn the full $600. If one meeting is missed, earnings drop to $300. If more than one meeting is missed, no funds are earned for the semester.
  • SubmitRSO Membership Form, complete with student ID numbers, no later than the Friday of Finals week each fall and spring semester. A minimum of 8 student members is required.
  • Submit RSO Year End Report no later than the last day of May.

All of the requirements below are required for RSO's at centers and locations connected to LSC-North Harris (Greenspoint, Victory, HPB, Chi):

  • Complete RSO Registration Form. This form is typically done toward the beginning of fall semester, or when an organization resumes or commences activities.Recommend completing form by the end of September. Form must be updated whenever any information chafes.
  • President (or equivalent) and Advisor must complete theRSO Advisor & President Agreement Form.
  • Complete state-mandated Risk Management Training. RSO officers are invited (not required) to attend the RSO Leadership Workshop on Friday, October 3, from 10am-2pm in SC 200 at LSC-North Harris. RSO Advisors at the centers must complete risk management training with Dan Mitsven, and can then share theRisk management training PowerPointwith membership at meeting.
  • Each semester, must conduct a recruitment event to raise awareness of the organization and build membership. Student Life may conduct a mini "Involvement Fair" at Victory and Greenspoint. See the Dan Mitsven for information.
  • SGA meeting minutes will be posted on the SGA Web Page after each meeting. RSO's at the centers must verify that they have read the minutes and shared any relevant information with club members at a meeting.
  • Submit RSO Membership Form no later than the Friday of Finals week each fall and spring semester. Must use approved form, complete with student ID numbers. A minimum of 8 student members is required.
  • SubmitRSO Year End Reportno later than the last day of May.
