Lone Star College-Tomball's local chapter of the Association of Texas Professional Educators- Future Teacher Club (FTC) was selected as Local Unit of the Year on July 12, 2008 in Austin, TX. The college group was selected number one because of various accomplishments they made during the 2007-08 year. The selection committee examined the group in the following areas: Local unit management, membership growth, member services, services to the school and community, and political involvement. This student club doubled its membership from the prior year and also brought the largest college group (25 members) in over thirty years to the annual conference in March 2008.
