Federally Sponsored Programs

Financial aid programs funded by the federal government available to students attending postsecondary schools at Lone Star College-Kingwood include:

    • The Federal Pell Grant which assists financially needy undergraduate students attending any eligible public or private school. Most grants at Lone Star College System will range from $400 to $4,050 per year. PELL grants are not awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.  All grant awards are based on financial need and are Title IV programs.

    • The Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant which assists financially needy undergraduate students attending any elgible public or private postsecondary school.   All grant awards are based on financial need and are Title IV programs.

    • The Federal College Work Study Program which provides employment opportunities for financially needy undergraduate students attending any eligible postsecondary school. In order to apply, pick up an application in the Financial Aid office SFA 119.• The Federal Family Education Loan Programs administered in Texas by the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation, which guarantees loans made by the private sector and through the Hinson-Hazlewood Program to students attending eligible postsecondary schools.

    • The Federal Family Education Loan Program includes: Federal Stafford Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized), Federal PLUS (Parent) Loans, and Federal Consolidation Loans.
