Counsels students with personal, social, educational, and career concerns.
Facilitates the transition of new students into the college environment.
Provides crisis/short term counseling.
Teaches assigned classes and maintain office hours, as appropriate.
Assumes responsibilities as outlined in the job description of full-time teaching faculty in relation to the assigned classes as appropriate.
Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
Cooperates in developing an effective occupational information service for students.
Provides information and services for students with special needs adhering to ADA and 504 regulations.
Presents seminars and workshops based on student population and faculty needs.
Provides information and assessment services to support student learning and attainment of career goals.
Establishes annual objectives, including personal and professional growth plans, in consultation with the associate dean/director.
Personal and Professional Development
Maintains current knowledge of theory, practice, and ethics within the counseling profession through professional development activities.
Participates in an evaluation process of self, department, and college.
Institutional and Community Service
Participates in scheduled institutional service activities, which include opening week events, conference day, and commencement exercises.
Participates in college-related activities such as registration, community education, recruitment of students, selection of faculty, student activities, and/or special programs, as appropriate.
Participates in department, college, or district meetings and/or committees.
Remains familiar with and adheres to all policies and procedures of the district.
Provides services for the retention of "at risk students" including the socially and economically disadvantaged, the academically under-prepared, the nontraditional, and returning student.
Participates in the college planning process by assisting in the formulation of objectives and goals, establishing budget priorities, and contributing to plans for facilities and programs.
Participates in college recruitment and retention efforts as appropriate.
Participates in business and/or student activities and/or community activities that foster goodwill and promote the mission of the college district.
Performs other reasonable, related duties as assigned.
