Large Intestine - Colon Mucosa

  • The colon lacks villi (no lacteals) the deep pockets are called crypts of Lieberkuhn.
  • The mucosal layer villi of the large intestine is filled with goblet cells. The mucus secreted by these goblet cells compacts the feces.
