Continuing Your Certification
In order to continue receiving your GI Bill benefits, you must submit a request for certification each semester by informing the Veteran Services System office of your enrollment.
You may do this by:
- Email your request to the Veteran Services System office at "gibill@lonestar.edu"
Please include your name, student ID or
social security number, phone number, and
the semester you are requesting certification for.
OR
- Call the Veteran Services office at 832-813-6651 or 832-813-6574.
OR
- Sending a copy of your class schedule via fax to
832-813-6795.
OR
- Inner-office mail a copy of your class schedule through your financial aid office of your campus.
OR
- Physical mail to: Lone Star College System

NOTE: The processing of certification requests are completed in the date order received at the Veteran Services System office.
Additional Information:
- Please be aware that you are responsible for the payment of your courses. Your GI Bill benefits are paid after your first month of school attendance, however, this is contingent upon the time frame of the completion of your certification.
- It is very important that you enroll in courses that are part of your chosen degree plan. The Veteran Services office is only authorized to approve and certify courses that apply to your current Lone Star College System degree plan. To view and/or print your degree plan please see the “degree plan” link on the left side of this page.
- You must report to the Veteran Services office any time you drop or add a class. Failure to do so may result in an overpayment or a shortage of payment.
- In order to receive payment: Chapter 30 and chapter 1606 veterans must complete enrollment verification each month on or after the last day of the month in order to receive payment for that month. Your enrollment verification can be verified on the VA website (WAVE) https://www.gibill.va.gov/wave/ or by phone at: 1-877-823-2378
