RSS feeds

XML RSS feeds are excellent tools to "keep current" with publications of interest to you. If a journal publishes an RSS feed, you can "subscribe" to it (for free!) using a kind of software or web tool called an "aggregator." Many custom portals -- like My Yahoo, MyMSN and MyAOL -- now also allow you to add RSS feeds to your custom homepage. In this way, you can see the new "headlines" from all your favorite publications in one place.

If you'd like to know more, you may also view this short web tutorial on how to use RSS to keep current and make your searching more efficient.

RSS feeds work great for publications that are available for free on the Internet. Using them with subscription publications -- ones that you normally access through your library, for example -- can be a little more tricky. That's why we've provided the following set of "customized" RSS feeds. They are specially designed so that when you click the headline, you'll be able to access the full-text of the article (you may need to enter your library barcode number if you're located off-campus).

Please let us know if there are other publications you normally access through our libraries that you would like to see on this list!
