Area of Concentration in International Studies
The International Studies AOC is an introduction for freshman/sophomore college students to global studies with an emphasis on the 20th and 21st centuries. By taking a diverse set of courses with a world view, students will broaden their perspectives and gain an appreciation and awareness of the global community. Students desiring to work toward a major in international education can complete the requirements for the associate of arts degree and the area of concentration [AOC] hours for international education. There is a 15-hour minimum for this area of concentration with a two-year foreign language component. Students must complete at least 50% of these courses within the colleges of the Lone Star College System to receive this AOC designation. Upon successful completion, graduates will receive an AA degree with an AOC in international education. Area of concentration courses must be selected from those sections designated in the schedule as international studies sections (IS). |
