Tech Prep links high school Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses to college workforce technical courses through articulation as part of a 2-year Associate of Applied Science degrees.  

This table explains the two types of articulation.  The course crosswalks below are for LSC courses only.
Local Articulation Advanced Technical Credit (ATC) -Statewide Articulation

Established for specialty courses not on ATC or to support a non-ATC trained teacher                                                                        

Established for common secondary and post-secondary technical courses 
Application submitted by the high school teacher through the Tech Prep coordinator and reviewed by the college faculty  Application submitted at Part 1 of ATC training events, then reviewed by the ATC program housed at Stephen F. Austin State University.  
Application consists of detailed work experience outside of the classroom and degrees and certificates  Application consists of detailed work experience outside of the classroom and degrees and certificates 
Course curriculum reviewed by the related curriculum team for Lone Star College System  Course curriculum reviewed by faculty facilitator during Part 2 of ATC training events; faculty signs application 
Renewal: with every change in the curriculum taught or teacher credentials. If no changes, then the agreement does not expire  Renewal: every three years by attending an ATC training event. Lone Star College System does not hold these events; however the Gulf Coast Tech Prep consortium hosts at least 1 time a year. Otherwise, summer conferences are the most common place to receive training.  
Student may be eligible for credit at one of the Lone Star College System college campuses  Students may be eligible for credit at any participating college or technical school in the state that offers a matching course

High Schools and Independent School District personnel:
Please use the Lone Star College System ATC Crosswalk for school year 2008-2009 at the link below to determine course linkages and ATC teacher training needs. Students graduating in the 2008-2009 school year may be eligible for credit on this crosswalk, not previous crosswalks unless to verify the year they took the course.
