Core Indicators of Effectiveness
Developmental Studies
Effectiveness Indicators
Indicator 1: Course Completion Developmental Studies students will successfully complete the course at the same rate as non-DS students.
Performance Measure: Compare a three-year average course completion rate of DS and non-DS students. Course completion rate is defined as the number of students who were enrolled on accounting day and completed the course with an A, B, or C. Show results per college and as a district aggregate.
Indicator 2: Sequence Completion Developmental Studies students will complete the developmental sequence at a greater rate than historically documented.
Performance Measure: Compare a three-year benchmark sequence completion rate with current sequence completion rates. Sequence completion rate is defined as the number of students who were enrolled in a DS course on the accounting day and successfully completed all DS courses leading to college level coursework with an A, B or C. Show results per college and as a district aggregate.
Indicator 3: TASP Completion Developmental Studies students will successfully complete their TASP requirements at a greater rate than historically documented.
Performance Measure: Compare a three-year benchmark TASP completion rate with current TASP completion rates. TASP completion rate is defined as the percentage of students who, following their DS sequence, successfully complete the TASP requirement. Show results per college and as a district aggregate.
Indicator 4: College-Level Success Rate Developmental Studies students will succeed in college-level courses at the same rate as non-DS students.
Performance Measure: Compare the college-level course completion rates of students who completed the DS sequence to students who were not required to take developmental courses in that subject. College level success rate is defined as the percentage of students (DS or non-DS) enrolled in a B-level course on accounting day who completes the course with an A, B or C. Show results per college and as a district aggregate.
Indicator 5: Degree, Certificate and Licensure Completion Developmental Studies students will complete degrees, certificates and licensures at the same rate as non-DS students.
Performance Measure: Compare the degree, certification and licensure completion rates of students who completed the DS sequence to students who were not required to take developmental courses. Degree, certification and licensure completion rates are defined as the percentage of students (DS or non-DS) who were enrolled in courses on the accounting day and completed a degree, certificate or a licensure. Show results per college and as a district aggregate.
Indicator 6: Goal Attainment Developmental Studies students will attain their educational goals at the same rate as non-DS students.
Performance Measure: Compare goal attainment data for DS and non-DS students. (Data collection to be determined.)
