Program Overview
The College Connections Program is designed to educate and prepare high school seniors for a successful transition from high school to Lone Star College-CyFair. We support students in making confident decisions about their future by providing college preparation information, college culture events, and pre-admission support with information regarding the enrollment process at LSC-CyFair.
Program Incentives
Students that participate in the College Connection Program may receive:
- Assistance with college admissions process
- Tour Lone Star College-CyFair campuses and facilities
- Experience a day in the life of a college student
- Access to student support resources and information
- Attend New Student Orientation
- Register for college courses
- Provide first year college information

High School Campus Student Programs
Campus Visits – During these visits, College Connection Advisors meet with a designated group of students who wish to receive help with the enrollment process at Lone Star College-CyFair. This assistance includes explanations of the enrollment process, program offerings and an online explanation on how to navigate the Lone Star College-CyFair portal.
College 101 Presentation – This is the most common presentation delivered in high school classrooms and auditoriums. It covers basic information about admission requirements, financial aid, enrollment steps, programs and a general description of each Lone Star College-CyFair Campus (Barker Cypress, Fairbanks Center, & Cypress Center). It is designed to be highly informative, but brief enough to maintain the attention of the students in the audience.
Application Day – These events are meant to assist interested high school students as they complete the Lone Star College application for admission. This event may be held in conjunction with the Mobile Go Unit and is available to all Service Area High Schools (SAHS).
College Connect Days – College Connection Advisors will coordinate with the Financial Aid and Advising Office to offer workshops to all SAHS. These presentations are commonly given with the cooperation of a Financial Aid representative and Academic Advisor who will be able to answer any specific questions that the students might have.
Like the College 101 Presentation, the Advising and Financial Aid Presentations are highly informative while keeping the audience’s attention.
Lone Star College On-Campus Events
College Preview Day – This event offers a chance for students to experience a day in the life of college student. Students will observe a mini college course, interact with student organizations and explore areas of study that interest them. Students will also have an opportunity to receive hands-on help with the admissions process.
Passport to the Future – This event expresses appreciation to students who worked with College Connections Advisors during the school year and have enrolled in classes at Lone Star College. Kick Start to College provides students with informational resources and access to departments designed for their academic success and social development.
Falcon Admissions Checklist – This event is designed to assist students with the Lone Star College admissions process. Students will attend a brief enrollment information session that provides clear explanation of all steps needed to complete the registration process. Following the presentation, students will receive hands-on assistance with all admissions needs and financial aid.
Departmental Summary
The Office of Student Outreach & Recruitment Department is led by the Manager of Student Outreach & Recruitment. There are four full-time professional recruiters who serve as College Connection Advisors. All employees within this department report to the Dean of Enrollment Management.
