LSC-Tomball Dispute Resolution Center

Mediation is a confidential process used to resolve conflicts in an amicable manner. An impartial mediator helps parties in a dispute to resolve their issues by exploring solutions and obtaining a mutually satisfactory agreement.

Mediation Steps

Mediation Benefits
LSCS board policy requires the use of informal resolution before a formal grievance is filed. Mediation is a fast, economical, and confidential method of informal resolution. If a settlement is reached, then a formal grievance is avoided.  Mediation is a win-win for all parties.

Information about the DRC Pilot Program from the Lone Star College Office of General Counsel
Overview: The DRC Pilot Program will be a proactive step to mediating disputes before a faculty member can file a formal grievance with their Vice President of Instruction.   If the dispute is between faculty only, each faculty member may be represented by an attorney of their choice (each person bearing their own costs). If the mediation does not resolve the conflict, the faculty member may then formally file his or her grievance.

Outcome. A faculty member may choose not to have a representative at the mediation.  If mediation does not resolve the faculty member’s concern, then the faculty member may file a formal grievance.
