An invitational strategy forum sponsored by the HR Policy Association Workforce Development Roundtable and the Community College Workforce Consortium.
The HR Policy Association Workforce Development Roundtable and the Community College Workforce Consortium are bringing together senior human resource leaders from the energy, manufacturing, and information technology industries to discuss the skills needed to address current and future workforce needs. Participating companies attending include National Oilwell Varco, Boeing Corporation, FMC Technologies, as well as the National Association of Manufacturers and the International Association of Drilling Contractors.
These executive leaders will discuss their workforce needs with community college teams led by chancellors and presidents whose communities have employed a significant number of workers in these sectors. The ultimate goal of this strategy forum is to understand the emerging skill needs of large employers, identify education and training solutions, ensure solutions are aligned with industry recognized standards and build capacity to meet industry needs today and in the near future.
The format will include a series of panel presentations, real time labor market data, and discussion groups. The conference will include keynote presentations from Boeing Commercial Airplanes and top community college workforce leaders. Breakout panel discussions include leading employers in specific sectors to examine current workforce issues and needs in each.
The meeting will take place at Lone Star College-University Park, located 30 minutes from George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Local hotels will be available for overnight attendees.
Shuttle transportation will be provided between the Conference hotels and Lone Star College.
The Conference will be facilitated and panels will be moderated by Nelda Blair, a nationally recognized thought leader in workforce development.
