Bio

Jared D. Cootz is the Academic Dean for the Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences Division at Lone Star College-Tomball. Dean Cootz has been with Lone Star College since 2001. During that time, he has taught various courses in sociology and psychology. He also spent seven years as a Department Chair over diverse departments and disciplines. Over the years, Dean Cootz has presented at several national conferences and received numerous grants. Dean Cootz has a Master's Degree in the fields of Psychology and Sociology with advanced workforce certification in the field of Gerontology, as well as graduate work in organizational development.

While most of his higher education experience has been at the community college, Dean Cootz also held the position of Lecturer for several years with private and public universities in the state of Texas. Dean Cootz is also a Veteran of the United States Army. During his time in the army, he served with the 101st Airborne Division and in Central America. His interests over the last few years have focused on pop culture, the use of technology in the classroom, and the relationship between technology, culture, and the humanities.
