College Preparation Programs

The College Preparation Programs department provides leadership and support for Developmental Studies and grant-funded programs associated with Adult Education and Literacy as well as adult education programs, including General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).


Provide leadership in developing quality programs that prepare students for successful transition to workforce programs, college, and academic transfer.

Developmental Education

Emphasizes instruction in reading and basic math, providing additional preparation for college-level instruction.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) emphasizes programs designed to help students improve reading, writing listening and speaking English.

General Educational Development (GED)

The General Educational Development (GED) test is an education service that enables a student to earn a certificate of High School Equivalency issued by the Texas Education Agency.

Adult Education

Lone Star College offers programs that help to build academic and workforce skills. Our grant-funded programs provide comprehensive training in English literacy and mathematics, while allowing students to attain workforce certifications and instructors of adult learners to attain professional development.
