Community invited for fun at annual Fine Arts Festival

LSC-Kingwood and Humble ISD invite the community to the 17th annual Fine Arts Festival on Saturday, April 27.

Lone Star College-Kingwood will host the 17th annual Fine Arts Festival on Saturday, April 27. This event is free and open to the community.

Sponsored by the Humble Independent School District, the free festival will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in several buildings at the college. Last year, the college did not host the event due to damages sustained after Hurricane Harvey.

“We are excited to host this festival once again and welcome all students, parents, and the general community back to our campus,” said Dr. Katherine Persson, college president.

The Fine Arts Festival showcases the creative abilities of Humble ISD and LSC-Kingwood students through music and visual art displays. K-12 ensembles will perform throughout the day on three different stages, and there will be live jazz on the Student Conference Center (SCC) patio from 1:30-3:30 p.m. The main feature is the exhibition of artwork by elementary through college students. Attendees can view the Humble ISD Visual Art Year End competition in the SCC and the LSC-Kingwood Graphic Design Show in the Art Gallery located in the Administration and Performing Arts Center (APA).

“This event encourages families in the Lake Houston and surrounding communities to have fun as they participate in creative activities,” said Stacia Gower, Humble ISD visual art coordinator.

The festival will offer a wide variety of performing arts activities for community members to enjoy including creation stations in which children can create take-home art. Also, there will be a Kids-N-Motion activity area, and an Artisan’s Market to purchase goods from local artists and entrepreneurs.

“The incorporation of visual and performing arts allow people to see and hear the talent that we have within the local community in a family-friendly environment,” said Angie Spargur, special events coordinator at LSC-Kingwood.
