The Office of Community Outreach and Recruitment develops, plans and implements system-wide events and activities that connect citizens of the service area with LSCS programs and services. We work with educational institutions, businesses faith-based organizations, cultural groups and community-serving entities on outreach activities. Our goals are:
  1. To support and enhance the recruitment and retention of students throughout the Lone Star College System, and
  2. To develop and cultivate interactive relationships with both the external and internal LSCS communities.

Foster Care Alumni Transition Program (FCAT)

The Foster Care Alumni Transition Program (FCAT) is a pilot program in the developmental stages designed to support students aging out of foster care make a seamless transition into higher education at LSCS. The FCAT Program will begin with a comprehensive awareness campaign to provide information about available state benefits and LSCS services to current foster care children, the foster parents, K-12 institutions, foster care alumni (FCA) and agencies that work with FCA.

A trained advisor at each campus serves as a Campus Champion to assist enrolled FCAT students with all aspects of their college experience.

Project M.A.L.E. Initiative (PMI)

PMI is a comprehensive Student Success initiative targeting male students currently making the transition from high school into the Lone Star College System, and ultimately into a four-year institution. It is a tool for promoting counseling, testing, tutoring, academic advisement, financial aid, job placement, mentoring, and personal growth while simultaneously enhancing the student's academic standing in the classroom.

Middle School to College (M2C) Program

M2C is an early outreach initiative offering free college prep workshops and mentoring, along with college scholarships, for eligible African-American and Hispanic male students. Students apply in the spring of their sixth grade year for participation in the program from 7th grade through their high school graduation.  Parents must attend all workshops with their student This program bean in the fall of 2009 in Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, and has grown to include the Conroe Independent School District, with workshops being held on both the LSC-Cy-Fair campus and the LSC-Montgomery campus.

Mobile Go Center (MGC)

MGC mission is to create a college-going culture by promoting college awareness in LSCS surrounding communities by visiting schools, shopping malls, community centers, and other locations and brining college-related information, motivation and assistance directly to prospective students and their families.

Mobile Go Centers reach out to students and parents through community partnerships and provide them with the tools and information they need to make college a reality. Mobile Go Centers are part of the College for Texans campaign to support state Closing the Gaps efforts to draw an additional 630,000 Texans into colleges and universities by 2015.
