Lone Star Corporate College has footprints throughout the Houston region with corporate partners who recognize the importance of career and technical education for their workforce.
National Oilwell Varco
Pat Neal, a past vice president of organizational development for National Oilwell Varco, discusses the partnership created between her company and Lone Star Corporate College.
Improving retention, increasing employee satisfaction and adding value to the company's bottom line – that's what Halliburton Security DBS's training partnership with Lone Star College System is yielding – and then some – according to Halliburton officials.
"More than 100 of our employees have taken advantage of the training that the college provides," said Sean Ellis, training manager for Halliburton Sevurity DBS. "Not only our drill bit fabricators, welders and machinists, but also employees in customer service, procurment and planning benefit from the training. The best part is that much of the training can be funded via a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission."
Montgomery County Hospital District
The Montgomery County Hospital District's (MCHD) EMS group serves a fast-growing and diverse population. Like with many other organizations, there is a growing emphasis on gathering and communicating data effectively, and also in developing and retaining quality employees. MCHD engaged Lone Star Corporate College to deliver two types of training.
"Our staff was very pleased with the flexible approach of the (college) faculty and their willingness to meet individual needs," said an MCHD representative. "The instructor's style accomodated a wide spectrum of personalities and demographics."
Stewart & Stevenson
Stewart & Stevenson approched Lone Star Corporate College to provide Cultural Diversity Classes as part of a larger internal training initiative. Roy Allice, director of training and technical services was overwhelmed by the support Lone Star added.
"I want to commend Lone Star Corporate College for the two Cultural Diversity Classes. Lone Star's presentation was very professional and the course of instruction with real life scenarios was extremely relevant. All of the feedback from Stewart & Stevenson's training staff was excellent and several of the supervisors have requested additional classes for other departments. The project was a success."
