Our mission is to develop and certify professional educators for the public school systems of Texas.
CLINICAL TEACHING ANTICIPATED FOR FALL 2010 - APPLICATION DEADLINE APRIL 15, 2010 FOR PLACEMENT.
Clinical Teaching is anticpated for applicants or candidates in the Alternative Teacher Certification Program at Lone Star College-CyFair. Clinical teaching course provides students with exciting preparation in training and field based experience at the appropriate grade level and content area. As the clinical teacher you will work alongside an assigned mentor teacher in a public school. You will be provided with a Lone Star College-CyFair supervisor for additional support and guidance through this program. The clinical teaching route to certification is a one-semester non-paid commitment that leads to recommendation for a Standard Certification at completion.
The Fall 2010 Application deadline for Clinical Teaching is April 15, 2010. Please get your application in early. We will be placing clinical teachers in Cypress Fairbanks ISD. (foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES member (http://www.naces.org/)<2.5 Overall or on last 60 hours GPA or special permission COMPASS: test if the Baccalaureate degree was awarded more than 5 years previously 81 Reading Skills, 39 algebra, 59 Writing Skills (objective); 6 Written Essay

Demonstrate content knowledge, documented by on of the following
- EC-6 Generalist or 4-8 Generalist -- 39 credit hours in subject areas: 9 English, 9 Math, 9 Science, 9 Social Studies, 3 Speech
- 8-12 certification areas: 24 - 36 in subject area of certification sought
OR
Passing score (240 <) on Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT), admistered by ETS. Test must match desired certification area grade level and subject area. For more information regarding registration, refer to: http://www.texes.ets.org/

The following process for applying for the Lone Star College-CyFair Alternative Teacher Certification Program (ATCP).
- Attend an information session. Refer to posted dates.
- Download and complete the ATCP Application
- If degree is older than 5 yrs complete a COMPASS exam at Lone Star College-CyFair Assessment Center (form needed, can be picked at our office).
Contact the office (281-290-3957) with your score report.- Pay application fee.
- Bring paid to receipt to our office located in MOD 1 #110, behind library building
- Distribute the recommendation forms to individuals who can serve as professional references. Reference forms can be mailed or faxed to 281-290-5932.
- After required documents are submitted you may schedule an interviewing.
Our cohorts of accepted candidates begin classes in January, June, and August.
