LSC-CyFair History

Lone Star College–CyFair opened its doors August 25, 2003 as the 5th college in the Lone Star College System (previously North Harris Montgomery Community College District).

2000-2002

  • August 2000 - Cy-Fair residents vote overwhelmingly and approve initiative to join NHMCCD
  • May 24, 2001 - Ground-breaking ceremony held for Fairbanks Center
  • August 23, 2001 - Back-to-School/Fairbanks Center to open in 2002
  • January 18, 2002 - Barker Cypress campus ground breaking
  • September 14, 2002 - ESEC - Emergency Services Education Center ground-breaking ceremony

  • April 2007 - Phi Theta Kappa Chapter honors earned the Leadership Hallmark Award and Scholarship Hallmark Award. The Beta Lambda Mu Chapter was also named among the Top 100 Chapters and earned the Beta Alpha Continued Excellence Award. Individual honors were awarded to Belsis Romero, chapter president, who received the Guistwhite Scholarship; and Cy-Fair College's Vice President of Administrative Services Dr. Robert Williams, who received the Administrator Award of Distinction

  • January 2008 - Marketing students at Lone Star College-CyFair will soon see some of their own semester project ideas used for the marketing of the Texas Copperheads
  • January 16, 2008 - Former NHMCCD becomes Lone Star College System. The new name and logo are announced during a district wide unveiling ceremony.
  • January 16, 2008 - Former Cy-Fair College becomes Lone Star College-CyFair 
  • February 15, 2008 - Delta Epsilon Chi takes multiple state awards. Kadie Paul, Donald Smith, and Frances Bailey take 1st through 4th wins at the Texas Delta Epsilon Chi Career Development Conference.
  • March 20, 2008 - Ambassador Ahmad Kamal visits college and informs community, students and faculty on the global perspective of Pakistan
  • April 2008 - Radiology students win state honors Sameera Quaid takes first-place, Nicole Pierce takes second and Bradley Wilbanks captured the third in the Student Leadership Competition, which includes an oral conference presentation in front of 200 other students
  • April 11, 2008 - LSC-CyFair Nursing Program receives prestigious FIPSE Grant
  • April 14, 2008 - Tennis instructor Tim Sebesta earns the National Ace Award for outstanding leadership
  • April 18, 2008 - LSC-CyFair Men's soccer team wins championship title
