Since the ninth grade, area high school students took on the challenge to earn several college credits while completing their required high school studies.

The determined group sacrificed the typical high school experiences, such as sports, student clubs, and associations, to prepare for their educational future. With their hard work, dedication and families’ support, 167 Splendora, Quest, and Infinity Early College High School students completed all required college courses. On May 12, the high school students stood among approximately 400 Lone Star College-Kingwood students as they graduated with their associate degrees before earning their high school diplomas.

“LSC-Kingwood was honored and proud to honor and acknowledge the high school students who graduated with a college degree weeks before receiving their high school diploma,” said Dr. Katherine Persson, college president. “This remarkable achievement will allow students to continue their college education as juniors at any four-year college or university.”

The Early College High School Program provides high school students the opportunity to earn an associate degree and or up to two years of transferable college credit by the time of their high school graduation. The program is intended for highly-motivated, academically driven, mature students who desire to be challenged by college coursework and are capable of completing the core curriculum and an associate degree.
