Disability Services believes in equal access to educational opportunities for all individuals. Therefore, we endeavor to create, promote, and maintain an environment where all individuals with disabilities have access to educational opportunities with minimal adaptations. We will do this by:
- Promoting accessibility through utilization of assistive technology and the principles of Universal Design.
- Developing an institutional culture of acceptance and shared ownership.
- Providing exemplary service.
- Establishing accountability by maintaining cost efficient and effective services
Role of Disability Services
Disability Services serves as a liaison for any concern that may arise in relation to students with disabilities. Please inform the Disability Counselor of the situation and all efforts will be made to assist in resolving the situation. The goal of Disability Services is to provide as much assistance as possible to both students with disabilities and their instructors. Disability Services is available to answer questions and to provide current resources addressing specific disabilities and how faculty members can most effectively serve the needs of students with disabilities.
Legal Basis for Disability Services
The District and each college comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. In accordance with these laws, the college provides reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities and assures access to college facilities, programs, and activities.
