The Global Education Initiative at LSC-Montgomery unites faculty, staff, administrators and students, engaging all in constructive dialogue around a central theme that explores global issues and intercultural understanding. The theme for 2009-2010 is Water.
2009-2010 Theme: Water
The inaugural theme for the Global Education Initiative is water. Water represents more than an object of environmental research and monitoring. The study of water transcends academic fields whether assessing the burden of water-borne diseases, examining the social implications of the tradition of women as water bearers, or analyzing the historical background of maritime law and policy. The selection of water as this year's theme will allow an in-depth exploration of how water flows throughout all aspects of life and culture and a better understanding of how it has shaped the global community as it has evolved today.
