As an accomplished High School Graduate, The Honors College offers many benefits to those who are eligible to apply. Incoming freshman have the amazing opportunity to apply to be an Honors College Fellow. Please see below for more information.
As an existing student, you may be eligible to join The Honors College as well! The first step towards becoming an Honors Student is to complete and submit the Honors College Application. If you are interested in honors credit this semester, you have the ability to enter into an Honors Contract with a full-time faculty member by a certain deadline. Please see below for more information. In the upcoming semester, you will have the opportunity to enroll in designated Honors courses as well as entering into an Honors Contract.

To Join as a Dual Credit Student (enrolled in a Public or Private High School OR home school):
Honors Courses are special classes designated for Honors students only. These classes offer you an opportunity to learn with a limited amount of students in a challenging and engaging environment. In the upcoming semester, all Honors Students have the opportunity to enroll in these designated honors classes. Remember, there is very limited space! Submit your application to enroll as soon as possible.
Unable to enroll in an Honors course? Honors students have the option to earn Honors Credit by entering into an Honors Contract with a full-time faculty member by a certain deadline. After registering for a regularly scheduled course, you may contact the Honors Director to request an Honors Contract with your instructor. If approved, you must download and complete the Honors Contract form and submit it to your instructor or faculty mentor. After the contract is signed, you will work closely with your instructor/faculty mentor throughout the semester to earn Honors Credit in the respective course. You must maintain at least a B average in the course and present a well-designed research project on Honors Day to receive Honors credit on your transcript. For more information see Honors Courses. Honors Students have access to funds while in excellent standing with The Honors College. The application for a general Honors Scholarship can be found on the Honors College Forms page.
The Honors College Chancellor’s Fellows scholarship offers one of the most generous financial packages to students at Lone Star College. Recipients of this award will receive a full scholarship to pursue a course of study culminating in an Honors AA or AS degree, a book allowance, a cash stipend and more. This amazing opportunity is limited to 20 incoming freshmen with a high school GPA that is the equivalent of a 3.5 or greater on a traditional 4.0 scale. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must complete the Honors College Fellows Application. The Honors College Fellows Scholarship is a potential savings of nearly $8,000 to the cost of your college education.
***The Honors College Fellows Application is now closed for the Fall 2014-Spring 2015 academic year. It will reopen for the Fall 2015-Spring 2016 academic year soon.
Honors Day is a day reserved for Honors Students to present all their research projects completed throughout the semester. All Honors students who signed Honors Contracts are required to present their research project before their peers. The Fall 2014 Honors Day will take place on Friday, December 5th, 2014. All Honors students are required to attend this important event. Students who will be presenting their research (all students who have completed Honors Contracts AND nominated Honors Students enrolled in Honors Courses) must submit the appropriate forms to the Honors Office no later than Friday, November 21st, 2014.
Involvement in The Honors College can result in several levels of formal recognition for students.
Upon graduating from Lone Star College, many of our students transfer to the top universities in Texas, including the University of Texas, Texas A&M and the University of Houston. Participation in The Honors College will also make your application more competitive for some of the most prestigious undergraduate transfer scholarships available, including those offered by the Jack Kent Cooke and Terry Foundations.
