  • eBook Collection
    Browse, check out and download electronic books into your Android and Apple devices.
  • EBSCOhost (Apple iPhone and iPod Touch app)
    Access articles from journals, magazines, and newspapers on multiple subjects such as current events, health & medicine, business, history, and much more.
    To get the app:
    1. Access this EBSCOhost link on your mobile device.
    2. Enter your LSCS ID/library card barcode number to authenticate. 
    3. On the next screen, scroll to the bottom of the page and select the link "EBSCOhost iPhone and Android Applications."
    4. Enter your e-mail address. 
    5. Open the email from EBSCO on your mobile device.  The email will provide you with a link to download the app from iTunes, and a device authentication link.
    6. Download the app from iTunes, and then from the email, click on the authentication link and you are ready to search any EBSCOhost database directly from the link without logging in for several months.

  • Overdrive (cross-platform)
    Borrow downloadable e-books and audio-books from participating libraries.  Access materials from the Harris County Public Library Media Catalog with your HCPL or Lone Star library barcode (LSCS access courtesy of their partnership with Harris County Public Library System).

    Compatible app that can be used to access ebooks from Harris County Public Library Media Catalog.
  • RedLaser (Apple and Android)
    Comparison shopping app that uses your Smartphone's camera to scan product barcodes. Use this app to scan ISBN barcodes from books to find availability information from local libraries. Video tutorial
  • STAT!Ref (Apple, Android, and Blackberry)
    Includes over 350 interactive and authoritative evident based resources including full-text electronic medical reference books such as CPT and ICD-9-CM. Follow the steps below to create an account in order to access them using your mobile device.
    1. Access STAT!Ref through the database link (access off-campus with your 14-digit LSCS ID/library card barcode number).
    2. Select "My STAT!Ref" link in the upper right corner.
    3. If you do not have an account, create one by entering your email address and selecting "No, I want to create a My STAT!Ref account."
    4. **Important: Click the “Log in/Create Account" button. Then complete the form and click the "Create Account" button.
    5. Click on the "Temporary Login Account" tab and click the "Activate/Renew" button to allow access to STAT!Ref on your mobile device.
    6. Find the STAT!Ref app in your mobile app store and download.
    7. To login on your mobile device, use your email address as the username and your My STAT!Ref password.
      Note: You should get a reminder when your access needs to be renewed. Access STAT!Ref through the database link on your laptop or desktop computer and login to My STAT!Ref. To renew, select the “Temporary Login Account” tab and then the “Activate/Renew” button to extend your access.

Cite Your Sources
