The Harris Montgomery Information Consortium (Harmonic) partnership was developed as a cost-effective way for the Lone Star College System (LSCS), Harris County Public Library (HCPL), and the Montgomery County Memorial Library System (MCMLS) to share library resources. Lone Star College System patrons can request and check out materials from any of the consortium libraries. Patrons follow the circulation guidelines of the library where they check materials out.
All circulating items may be checked out for up to two weeks and may be renewed twice if there are no holds on the materials. Non-reserve materials may also be returned at any Lone Star College System Library (LSCS), Montgomery County Memorial Library System (MCMLS), or Harris County Public Library System (HCPL) locations.
Fines are $.25/day per item, up to a $3 maximum per item. Two-hour closed reserve fines are $.50/hour, up to a maximum of $6. One-, two-, and three-day reserve material fines are $1/day, up to a $6 maximum. Borrowing privileges for non-reserve items are restricted to those who have no overdue materials or fines. Fines may be paid at any college library within the system. The patron is responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen materials. Charges include item replacement cost and accumulated fines.
Library materials are available for checkout to all faculty, staff, and students of Lone Star College System, as well as MCMLS and HCPL patrons, dual credit high school students, and adults living in the district. To apply for a library card, patrons must present official LSCS identification or proof of residency within the service area. Patrons must obtain a library card in order to check out materials, including reserve materials. The card is accepted throughout the Lone Star College system and the public county libraries.
Patrons may request materials from any LSCS, MCMLS, or HCPL location. In addition, LSCS students, staff, and faculty may request materials from libraries outside of the consortium by completing the interlibrary loan form. There is no charge for this type of loan unless the lender charges for the service.
The TexShare card allows the cardholder direct borrowing privileges from any participating college or university in Texas. LSCS students, staff, and faculty may receive a TexShare card by completing the form online or at the circulation desk. Policies of the lending library govern the checkout of these materials.
A TexShare card issued by another Texas library may be used to check out system library materials. System circulation guidelines govern the checkout of these materials.
