What is M2C?

young african-american male studentLone Star College’s Middle School to College (M2C) program is an early outreach initiative offering free college prep workshops and mentoring, along with college scholarships, for eligible African-American and Hispanic 6th grade male students entering in the seventh grade. The program commitment is through high school graduation.

M2C workshops and culturally specific programs are held throughout the academic year to help students achieve the goal of earning a college degree. Students, along with their parents, must attend M2C workshops. By so doing, students will be eligible for a full tuition scholarship to Lone Star College upon successful graduation from high school.

The M2C program currently has 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade students from CyFair ISD (CFISD) at the LSC-CyFair campus  and  Conroe ISD (CISD) students at the LSC-Montgomery campus.

Workshop topics include:

  • Cultural Awareness
  • Academic Study Skills
  • College Admission Process
  • Preparing for College Entrance Exams
  • Transitioning from High School to College
  • Community Service

Program Requirements

Student and parent/guardian will both apply for the program Hispanic male student

  • Participants will commit to the M2C program through high school graduation
  • Participants will attend a conference in the spring semester each year of the program
