Credit Certificates Continuing Education Certificate
The CNC Machining Credit Certificate Program is designed to prepare graduates for careers in the operation and programming of CNC mills and lathes used extensively manufacturing industries. This program provides the foundation for continued studies should the student desire to continue his or her education towards an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university.

The Machining Technology Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level employment as a CNC Machinist. The student will begin by using numerous basic machine tools including the lathe, milling machine, and bench grinder. In addition, Machining Technology teaches safety procedures, preventative maintnance, and sound work habits.

  • Experienced machinists can make more than $32/hour in Texas

There will always be the need for well-trained individuals in the various trade industries. CNC (Computer Numeric Control) Machining offers a variety of job options in this region, particularly in the oil & gas and manufacturing fields.

What do machinists do?
Machinists operate and program Computer Numeric Control (CNC) mills and lathes used extensively in the manufacturing industries to make tools, dies, machine parts and equipment. People interested in becoming machinists should be mechanically inclined, have good problem-solving abilities, be able to work independently, and be able to do highly accurate work (tolerances may reach 50/1,000,000ths of an inch!) that requires concentration and physical effort.
