Welcome to the Math Lab!
The LSC-Kingwood Math Lab is available to assist all LSC Mathematics students. We are ready to help with course content to help you achieve success in your math course. Our commitment is to support you in achieving academic success, persistence in college courses, and retention of mathematical skills. We believe we can help students develop a deeper understanding of course concepts, reinforce essential study skills, and encourage independent learning. The LSC-Kingwood Math Lab is here to help you reach your educational goals as well as succeed in a rapidly changing world. Any student enrolled in courses with LSCS are encouraged to use a tutoring location that works best for you – regardless of location. This includes students enrolled in online mathematics courses. All students seeking assistance in the Math Lab must have a current LSC Student ID or be a Dual Credit High School student with a current LSC Student ID. All tutoring services in the learning support labs of LSC-Kingwood are FREE!
Math Lab Tutors
Our tutors are retired instructors and/or professionals, former students as well as students currently enrolled at LSC. All LSCS tutors are required to be certified by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) through level 1. This certification provides tutors with recognition and positive reinforcement from a national tutoring organization that identifies minimum standards and training necessary for successful tutoring.

Math Lab Locations and Tutoring Types
We currently have two locations for Walk-In tutoring.
- Atascocita Center Room 206 – Student computers and tables are available
- LSC-Kingwood Campus SCC Building Second Floor – Tables available
Walk-in tutoring is available during hours of operation as noted in the schedule. Students can bring questions regarding mathematical methods and concepts, specific problems, or questions regarding their math online technology (for example, ALEKS, MyMathLab, ConnectMATH, etc.). Don’t have question just yet? Space is available for students to work on math assignments and, if you have a question, at tutor is ready to assist!
Note: Due to Hurricane Harvey appointment tutoring is possible but on a case by case basis and if a tutor is available to assist. One-on-one appointments range from 15 minutes to an hour.
Our Content Explorations contain a variety of mathematical problems taken directly from the student learning outcomes for that course. This provides students with a variety of content to study for the TSI or another placement test. Find your course, chose the Content Exploration you would like to practice, click on the version, and print. Students are encouraged to work the problems and come to the Math Lab with questions in hand and tutors ready to help. Please check back for additional Content Exploration offerings.
