We will have tutoring, computer lab(s), and D2L/technology support for our students in the Fall 2017 semester, beginning September 25. Welcome to the Math Lab!
Your Math Lab is available to assist LSC Mathematics students both helping you to achieve success in your math course and instilling the belief that you can be a successful student of mathematics. Our commitment is to support you in achieving academic success, persistence in college courses (most especially mathematics courses), and retention of mathematical skills and a place to seek help. This enables students to further develop an understanding of course concepts, reinforce essential study skills and habits, and encourage independent learning. The LSC-Kingwood Math Lab is here to help you reach your educational goals as well as succeed in a rapidly changing world. All students enrolled in courses with LSCS can use any of a tutoring option that works best, regardless of location. This includes students enrolled in an online mathematics courses. All students seeking assistance in the Math Lab must have a LSC Student ID number. All tutoring services in the learning support labs of LSC-Kingwood are completely FREE!
Math Lab Tutors
Our tutors are retired instructors and/or professionals, former students as well as students currently enrolled at LSC. All LSCS tutors are required to be certified by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) through level 1. This certification provides tutors with recognition and positive reinforcement from a national tutoring organization that identifies minimum standards and training necessary for successful tutoring.
Math Lab Schedule
Math Lab Location - PAC 200
Walk-in tutoring is available during hours of operation as noted in the schedule. Students can bring questions regarding mathematical methods and concepts, specific problems, or required mathematics course online technology (for example, ALEKS, MyMathLab, ConnectMATH, etc.). Don’t have question just yet? Student computers are available for students to work on math assignments and, if you have a question, help is at hand!
No appointment tutoring for Summer I and Summer II.
One-on-one appointments may be made with Math Lab tutors. Appointments may range from 15 minutes to an hour (15 minute increments) Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00a - 2:00p. To make an appointment, please use the contact the Math Lab front desk in PAC 200 or call 281-312-1439.
Content Explorations are provided as an additional method for students wishing to study for the TSI or other placement test. Find the Content Exploration below you would like to practice, click on the version, and print. Students are encouraged to work the problems and come to the Math Lab with questions in hand and tutors ready to assist. Please check back for additional Content Exploration offerings.

Math Lab Seminars
New seminars starting Fall 2017. We will have several opportunities for students wishing to attend a Math Seminar presented by the LSC-Kingwood Math Lab. The seminars will occur on a Tuesday or Thursday from 12:30 – 1:15 in CLA (rooms are noted on the seminar schedule) and our theme continues this semester – “ Math Applies to THat”. This semester seminars will be presented by faculty members and will cover a variety of topics. Students will be provided with resources designed to help students be successful in their college courses and in life. If you are unable to attend a Math Lab seminar then please attend other seminars offered by the learning support labs.
