Mentoring & E-mail Mentoring Program
The Upward Bound E-Mail Mentor Program will match students with professionals in the academic and business world. The goal of the Mentor Program is that through the insights and shared experiences of mentors, students can find the courage to dream and wisdom to make their dreams a reality. The following are the benefits provided by mentors:
• Accountability
• Role modeling
• Academic Support
• Attention and Concern
• Acceptance Guidance
Requirements of Mentors
Volunteer mentors will be selected based on shared career interest or educational pursuits, community service, and suitability as a role model. Mentors are responsible for displaying attention and concern that will enable students to reach their personal best. Mentors should be committed to their assigned mentee for a period of one year or until graduation from high school. A mentor commitment entails maintaining contact with their assigned mentee through weekly e-mails.
