Award-winning author Dr. Foner Oct. 9

Ever wanted to ask questions of the author of your textbook in school? History students and community members can do just that, and learn more about Abraham Lincoln with Dr. Eric Foner at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at Lone Star College-CyFair.

An award-winning historian, and author of the LSC-CyFair history textbook “Give Me Liberty: An American History,” Dr. Foner will present “Fresh Insights on Lincoln and His World” in the Conference Center, room 153 on the Barker Cypress campus.

The LSC-CyFair History Department is sponsoring this evening with one of the country’s most prominent historians, who will share his insights on Abraham Lincoln from his latest book “Our Lincoln, New Perspectives on Lincoln and His World.” Following this presentation will be a question and answer session with Dr. Foner.

This Columbia University professor’s publications have concentrated on the intersections of intellectual, political and social history, and the history of American race relations. He’s been co-curator for two prize-winning traveling exhibitions on American history; written for publications such as the Times (Los Angeles and New York); revised the presentation of American history at the Hall of Presidents at Disney World and Meet Mr. Lincoln at Disneyland; appeared on numerous radio and television shows, including PBS and the History Channel and has served as consultant to several National Parks Service historical sites and historical museums.
