Hospitality Management certification now offered online

In an effort to offer working students flexibility of scheduling plus additional options for workforce training, the Hospitality Management certification is now offered completely online by Lone Star College.

Although the online format has been available for selected courses in the Hospitality Management program in the past, this fall marks the first time the program is being offered completely online.

“We’re very excited about this opportunity for students interested in becoming part of the hospitality industry,” said David Smith, LSC-North Harris, business, education and paralegal chair.

Who should enroll? Anyone interested in a hotel/restaurant management career and who enjoys working with people in a dynamic, versatile environment. Students will be able to enhance their skills as they learn about the hospitality industry, discover hospitality sales and promotion strategies, purchasing and legal issues of the industry, plus many other opportunities.

As part of the curriculum, students will enroll in cooperative education where they will be able to practice their skills in the workplace. Beginning salaries in the hotel and restaurant industry depend on the starting level, but job earnings in this industry range from entry-level wages to six-figure salaries, according to the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute.

The fall semester at LSCS has already logged a successful start to this program.
