Lone Star College System’s new Entrepreneurial Certificate program launched this fall to provide local potential business owners a leg-up on their competition.
The new certificate program kicked off with the 2009 Entrepreneurial Conference hosted in Sept. at the new Lone Star College Conference Center.
“This was the first conference to be hosted at our new facility and it was a huge success,” said Linda Head, associate vice chancellor for workforce development.
“We had nearly 100 registered participants attend the conference to hear leading business experts share their secrets of entrepreneurial success,” said Head.
Fred Caldwell, president and CEO of Caldwell Companies, served as the keynote speaker. Caldwell along with other presenters tackled topics pertaining to entrepreneurship including how to get started, legal issues, financing, marketing, human resources, how to create a successful business plans and more.
One participant shared he was recently laid off and after attending the conference he has decided to start his own business and will pursue the full Entrepreneurial Certificate Program now available through the LSCS Continuing Education division.
