Published on: August 30, 2007The Health Occupations Division of Lone Star College-Kingwood's Continuing Education Department has added several new courses to their line-up for the fall.
Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II and Microbiology Reviews are now available in addition to Fundamentals in Healthcare Supervision and Leadership Skills for the Healthcare Professional which presents two new leadership training options for the healthcare manager.
Therapeutic Stone Massage will also be offered for the first time with an emphasis on specialized techniques and assessment of client needs.
Other new courses being added to the already impressive array of dental courses are Dental Office Management, Nitrous Oxide Sedation Monitoring and Terminology for the Dental Professional. The Dental Office Management course is a study of business office procedures such as telephone management, appointment control, receipt of payment, completion of third party reimbursement forms, supply inventory maintenance, data entry, re-care management, federal and state guidelines regarding healthcare providers and operating basic business equipment. Nitrous Oxide Sedation Monitoring prepares dental personnel for the state examination as mandated by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. Terminology for the Dental Professional focuses on the definitions of dental terms with an emphasis on clinical use. The course stresses effective communication and professional relationships with patients.
The Patient Care Technician Certificate is a highly sought after certificate designed to give the Certified Nurse Aide additional training in several areas including: Nurse Aide - Patient Care Technician, Cardiovascular Technology, Diagnostic Electrocardiography, Electrocardiography and Phlebotomy.
Also new for the fall is the Pharmacy Technician Certification - a 32-hour review and preparation for the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam. Review topics include pharmacy mathematics, law, drug nomenclature and classification and aseptic technique. This review course is designed for the experienced pharmacy technician with at least six month of work experience.
