Be A Teacher

Come and join the education faculty, counselors, and advisors to learn about the programs available for you to become a teacher at Lone Star College-Kingwood. This family-friendly information session will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Teaching Theatre (CLA 114).

This session is designed to examine career options in the field of education, discuss current programs of study available at Lone Star College-Kingwood, assist in registering for Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) testing, provide financial aid information, and register for spring and summer 2008 classes with the assistance of on-site advisors to answer your questions. 

Lone Star College-Kingwood offers a Bachelors Degree in Teaching through Stephen F. Austin and the University of Houston-Downtown without ever having to leave campus. Louis Evans, director, college of public service advisors at the University of Houston-Downtown, will be on hand to answer any questions and to assist students with registration.

Lone Star College-Kingwood currently offers three ways to earn an Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degree which satisfies the freshman and sophomore level requirements for a bachelor's degree leading to initial Texas teacher certification.

Specialized tracks for current and future educators available are: EC-4 Early Childhood Specialization; EC-4 Early Childhood to Fourth Grade Generalist; and Fourth through Eighth Grade (4-8) Generalist. All tracks lead to initial Texas teacher certification.

This session is free and open to the public and directed to anyone interested in education with a special focus on high school seniors, teacher aides, paraprofessionals, substitute teachers, and preschool teachers.
