Delta Epsilon Chi students head to international competition after Austin success and service

After state competition success and community service efforts in Austin, Lone Star College-CyFair’s Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) students are headed to Kentucky for international conference.

Dylan Smith placed second in the Design Presentation prepared event, while the team of Donald Smith and Ronnie Maduzia took fourth in the Business-to-Business Marketing case study event at the recent Texas Career Development Conference in Austin. All three students will be attending and competing at the International Career Development Conference in April.

In addition to competition success against students statewide, these students attended conference workshops and leadership activities as well as volunteered in the Austin community.

“As part of DEX’s commitment of giving back to our communities, we spent a half day volunteering at the Capital Area Food Bank,” said Melinda Becker, advisor of the LSC-CyFair DEX chapter. “During our visit, we unpacked, inspected and sorted 8,932 pounds of frozen meat, providing 7,146 meals to families in need in the Austin area.”

At the conclusion of the state conference, the students elected LSC-CyFair’s Maduzia as the incoming DEX State President. The outgoing president is LSC-CyFair’s Donald Smith.

“Congratulations to our students on their achievements and carrying on the tradition of excellence representing Lone Star College-CyFair!” said Becker.
