Human Services Student Organization Forms at LSC-Montgomery

The Human Services Student Organization of Lone Star College will host two panel discussions with local social service professionals on Friday morning, March 26.  Breakfast snacks will be served beginning at 9 a.m. in Building A, Room 102. The event ends at noon.

This is part of the organization’s Spring Student Development Day, and it will also provide information about how to join and become involved in this new organization.

The first panel discussion is titled “Working in the Social Services System,” and focuses on what it’s like to work for a non-profit agency, a state-funded agency, or in private practice as a counselor. Presenters will cover what one needs to be prepared for if they want to work in these kinds of settings. The second panel discussion, “Words of Wisdom From Those Who’ve Been There,” highlights what experienced professionals say is the best—and worst—thing about working in this field. They will also touch on what mistakes to avoid, and offer words of wisdom that they wish someone had told them when they were a student.
